Metal Mayhem's Top 100 Metal Bands of All-Time, 85-81

Hello everyone,

Here is the latest installment of the Metal Mayhem Top 100 Metal Bands of All-Time.

85. Dokken

Dokken is an American glam metal band that formed in 1976 with an original lineup of Don Dokken on vocals, George Lynch on guitar, Juan Croucier on bass, and Mick Brown on drums. The best part of Dokken is the vocal work of their front-man who is known for his vibrato and melodic style. I mostly remember the band for their somewhat forgettable song for A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors called "Dream Warriors," but after further review, Dokken was one of the most underrated bands in metal history. While Dokken and Brown are the only original members left in the group, they are still making music and touring.
Here is "Dream Warriors."

84. Down

Down is an American heavy metal supergroup that was founded in 1991 as a side project for Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo. The rest of the group includes guitarist Pepper Keenan from Corrosion of Conformity, drummer Jimmy Bower of Eyehategod, and bassist Todd Strange and second guitarist Kirk Windstein from Crowbar. Strange was replaced by former Pantera bassist Rex Brown in 1999. The band has released three excellent studio albums: Nola, Down II: A Bustle in Your Hedgerow, and Down III: Over the Under, plus one EP titled Down IV Part I - The Purple EP. In my opinion, their debut album should be part of any metal fan's collection.
Here is "Stone the Crow."

83. Spiral Architect

Spiral Architect is a Norwegian progressive metal band that formed in 1993. While they have only released one demo and one full-length album A Sceptic's Universe, they are an incredible, but they have been on an extended sabbatical due to a variety of interests of different band members. Lead singer, Øyvind Hægeland is currently the lead singer for Scariot while the rest of the band are in various black metal and death metal bands. Despite their relatively brief careers, they were one of the best progressive metal bands that I have ever heard. Hopefully, they will produce more music in the future, but if they don't, their first album is a classic.

82. Dominici

Dominici is a progressive metal outfit formed by former Dream Theater vocalist Charlie Dominici in 2005. Their only release was The O3 Trilogy which is a series of concepts albums that follows the tale of a terrorist sleeper cell in the United States who fall in love with this country. In my opinion, Dominici is one of the most under-recognized progressive metal bands on the planet.
Here is "Liquid Lightning."

81. Metal Church

Metal Church is an American heavy metal band from San Francisco, California that formed in 1980, and has been releasing solid albums until the band called it quits in 2008. They band is considered to be one of the bands that transitioned metal from the New Wave of British Metal to the thrash scene of the early 1980s. In fact Metallica was such a huge fan of theirs, they urged Elektra records to sign them. This is one of the best metal bands from the 1980s.
Here is "Watch the Children Pray," which was originally dedicated to the late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton.
